Slugs are awesome creatures they slither on the ground leaving a slithery slime behind them. They are sort of like snails but they have no shell on their back they can live up to 6 years if they are lucky enough to avoid salt and hungry birds or being crushed by feet. The humble snail is a cousin to the Clam and Squid! In the winter the slugs hibernate themselves in a cocoon made of their own slime.
